While my computer is in the shop and I'll probably never get all of the email info back so that I could publish the Web Page!! I do believe that this is the same razor that a fellow at work, whom I'd turned onto shaving with a straight bought! Damn I wish I could pull up the Web Page that he'd sent me! He was so proud about the 'Great Deal' he got as the razor was originally about $120 then lowered to $99 but they offered a Great Deal of only $20 delivered! (I knew in my heart that he'd been ripped off)!
OH how I wish he would have consulted in me before he sent those hard earned dollars to them!
When he told me what he had done, I just told him that most razor's with a factory hone aren't Truly 'Shave Ready' and that I'd hone it for him at no cost.
Well after spending 1/2 hour honing/ (I'd done my usual routine all the way up to 12k), it wouldn't 'Pop' arm hairs at Any Stage. But I made the decision to see if it would shave, so I stropped it. To put it in perspective, I've gotten a better shave off of a 1k that wasn't stropped!
When he came over to pick up his 'Prize'! I had to tell him that it would make an attractive paper weight!
I also handed him a nice 5/8 round point German made Red Point that had a fresh hone on it and told him it was a gift. I also included my beginner's strop as a loaner until he got one of his own. I showed him how to strop and he was grateful and apologized for not consulting me.
He's learned his lesson, I just hope that I can find the website that he bought that Piece of S^@^@%&&$!%$%^$ ! at so it can be added to the wikis!
OH! On the bright side, I stumbled upon a nice 'Kit' that Doom was offering and he bought it and it included a very nice shaving 6/8 round point! The 2' Illinois strop will force him to learn the proper X stroke! My beginner strop was 3"!
I'll see if he can remember where he bought that ! S^R$^$*@+#&!! And then I'll get it to a Mod!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.
