Default 2nd razor for a new guy

Hey everyone, First real post here, other than to thank Harvitz81 for the awesome Engals he sold me. So I've been looking for my 2nd razor and have been perusing ebay.. tried to bid on some good looking Henkels, but got sniped, of course.. I'm an amature chef, son of a professional chef and have used Henkels for a very long time, and since they make amazing knives, i figured their razors couldn't be far off. but I digress... as I was looking today, i found this:

OLD VINTAGE UNION CUTLERY CO OUR MASCOTTE HOLLOW GROUND STRAIGHT RAZOR NR | eBay

Looked to be in great shape, was definitely in my price range, so i bid and won it.. I did a search on here for union cutlery and alot of posts about the Spike came up, but could find very little about the Mascotte.. does anyone have any info/experience with/ observations about this razor? I'd appreciate anything, as i'm still new to this and am trying to soak up as much as I can about this new hobby of mine.. and if i've wasted my money, feel free to tell me and mock me

I know that i don't know enough about razors yet to even try to see if this is shave-ready, so I plan on sending it out to someone from here for honing, but once I get it back, I'll definitely be adding my (limited) experience with it after my first shave.

    Thanks Guys/Gals,
    Josh

That's a _very_ nice blade! Within the limits of "we don't do valuations", IMHO you got a pretty good deal.

Sending it out for honing is a good idea; I haven't yet seen a vintage razor that was sharp out of the antique shop.

Thanks! Does anyone know any history about this company, ie: dates of operation, that kind of stuff? I'd love to know the history of this company/blade.

Hello, I know this is 4 years later but, I came across a similar razor I guess (the link you provided is no longer showing that razor), it's a Mascotte and I can read "Made in France" in it. It's amazing how few information is on the Internet about this particular razor. Did you receive more information?Name: CAM00900.jpg
