History of shaver
I was intrested to see this post the other day:
http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...age-blade.html
I picked up a 6/8 vintage the other day branded as: Eagle and Globe. The original owner (I assume original) had hand carved his name on the blade W. S. Weir. After looking around the internet for a good while I found a memoriam notice posted in the Melbourne newspaper The Argus Saturday 1 December 1928.
From there I found his records online in the Australian War Memorial site. He was from Rosedale Victoria. He was KIA on the 1st of December 1916 in France.
As far as the cut throat itself i found records indicating that Eagle and Globe was simply a subsidiary of Seebohm & Dieckstahl Ltd from Sheffield to handle business to Australia and NZ which ties in nicely with the story. It had lots of rust on the spine but only a couple of blemishes on the blade itself.
Its my first every restore so I am taking a less is more approach.
P.S. I wasnt sure if I should include the name of the soldier, my apologies if I offended anyone.
Apologies for photo quality also I dont have a good setup at the moment. More photos to follow!
