Am I missing something
I have aquired a number of straights from ebay. A few of them were quite nice but I never got a deal on a good razor there. That is until today. A really nice Wade that I can't figure out why it went so low. The link is here eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices . My question is, am I missing something. This Wade should have gone for double what I got it for.

No you did very well. Nothing wrong with her. The higher prices usually go for the 7/8 and larger. Yours is a good deal and a beautiful razor.

That's a very nice razor indeed, and you've done well. The seller is a class act and a member here.

That's low you say? I remember razors like that going for half that and people saying it was too high.

I won't tell you I saw an 8/8ths 'for barber's use' for $45 at an antique store last week. In the coffin. A couple scratches on the blade and one of the scales was cracked bit easily repaired.
I passed on it because I couldn't talk them down to $30.

You're missing nothing. That's an expensive razor in my account. Just because you think others would pay more doesn't mean there is always demand. Further, not everyone wants restored razors.

Thanked: 46Scipio+1 There is a special nich for restored razors. A true collector who buys razors for any number of reasons wants an original razor that has not been reground or restored. OTOH, a user of straights might rather have a razor that all the work has already been done for him or her. I also feel that because of the economy and world status, that the bottom is soon going to fall out on the super high prices people have been paying for W@B razors. They are like diamonds, not rare, and the price is controlled by popular demand. I think that the working man in this country is about through paying out the nose for such items no matter what they are. Just MHO Best, wildhog
