    Default Good scales, bad blade.

    G'day all,

Quick question for you; as I mentioned previously, I have a crappy Chinese "Rite Edge" razor that has nice looking scales (here a pic someone else took).

In your expert opinion, would it be possible (or even worth it) to swap the crappy blade for a decent blade? I really like the mix of wood and steel on scales.

    Cheers
    Brad

Not worth it. Those scales will make for an unbalanced razor, as they are heavy.

Ditto on HarleyFXST's comment. Afriend of mine bought that razor as his first and we both tried for a couple days to get an edge on it. We couldn't, after he used a vintage razor he relized he wouldn't have used it anyhow due to the afore mentioned unbalance. It is now a box cutter.

Thanks for the replies guys. I had suspected as such, but thought I'd ask none-the-less.

Interestingly, Mastershake, mine's being used in pretty much the same way )
