Thanked: 0vintage Thiers Issard questions
Hi everyone im new here and to straight razor shaving all together.. i just bought my first straight razor & was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about it.
I was wondering if anyone knew how old this thing might be? & if anyone else has used one similar how to expect the shave to be in comparison to other newer/better razors? i just dont wanna shave with... then absolutly hate it & not to know its a piece of junk & i should expect better from others.
I just got it in the mail today from ebay & its supposed to be shave ready, i did the hht on it & seemed to be pleanty sharp, gonna give it a whirl for the first time today & ill post how it goes!

Welcome to SRP. Theirs Issard makes real good shavers. I'm not sure how old yours is but judging from the box it is 'vintage.' Ought to make a great shaver. If you are using a straight razor for the first time check out the SRP Wiki and founder Lynn Abrams' suggestions for the first straight razor shave here.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

They still make that model, it's one of their basic razors and is a quality piece. It's really hard to date but just going by the wear on the scales and the blade it's certainly vintage. You could probably write to TI and they could tell you exactly how old it is.
