Thanks for the info. The blade on mine seems to be in good shape except the top of the blade seems to have some wear on it. The scales are broken though. Pretty cool find I think for the price I paid. Not as cool as finding one of my grandfathers though. Thats an amazing story.

Thanked: 884When you mentioned the pen crumbling first thing I thought of was celluloid ( old type of plastic ). Might be a good idea to remove any other old plastic looking pens or items from the vicinity of the razor or any other steel or iron items. When the celluloid breaks down, it gives off nitric acid fumes that will corrode steel and iron. That old razor has a great family history for you and will last for several more centuries if protected from stuff that will eat it.
