Thread: Fromm 72 R

My girlfriends father recently gave me a Fromm 72r straight razor and i have been having a hard time getting a good shave from it are there any sharpening techniques i need to use or to practice on before shaving with this razor??

Welcome to SRP! I agree that you should send the razor out to be honed by a professional for the first time as you are new to straight razor shaving and learning to properly hone the razor while learning to shave with it is a fight you really don't want to tackle. Honing a razor is very different than honing a knife. Send the razor out for a proper honing and learn to shave with it. If you like the experience buy a second razor and learn to hone that one. The WIKI on the menu bar at the top of this page has a wealth of information from learning to shave with your new razor to honing to restorations with lots of other information like stropping and shave creams. It's worth giving it a read. Good luck on your straight razor journey.
