300 years of British newspaper archives digitized and online
Hey everyone,
I ran into a story on the internet today pointing to the newly developed British Newspaper Archive (Home | The British Newspaper Archive). They've taken 300 years worth of various newspapers and digitized them such that you can search and download articles via PDF. Unfortunately you have to pay for a subscription to download the articles, but I thought I would post it here in case there's some serious history buffs willing to pay the fees to satisfy their curiosity.
A search for "straight razor" resulted in hundreds of hits:
Results for 'straight razor' | The British Newspaper Archive
The second result looks like an article about Sheffield razor makers written September 1st, 1879. How great would that be to read?
Well I've got to do some thinking about the price and how much I'd use it but that subscription sure is tempting to me.
Hope someone finds it useful!
Rob

Lots of interesting articles in there - including the 'simplest method' to sharpen a razor.
A search for strop shows an article about a ex-soldier sent to 6 months hard labour for beating his 2 year old child with his razor strop!
Edit: This is one of the most amazing things I've seen on the internet in a while. Thank you very much for posting it!Last edited by wai; 12-01-2011 at 02:49 PM.

Very nice find might take a while to sort through. I got tired of all the murder and such in the search so I think this link should get rid of most of it.
