    Default What razor to buy???

Hi, my fiance told me he wanted a straight edge razor for Christmas, and I am happy to oblige as I'm tired of his stubble tearing my face up at night :P I think its the Italian in him, but he has a lot of dark thick hair and it grows back fast. I've been reading through the resources on this site and trying to figure out what kind of razor to get him, as he is a beginner and I'm on a budget! Some of the razors in the classifieds here looked promising, but I need a second opinion. Here are the one's I was looking at. Would you recommend any of these? Is one better than another for a beginner who cares more about the quality of the shave than the appearance of the razor (I'm clueless, but trying to learn about straight razors so any help is appreciated!)?

This is a great thing you are doing.

The first 2 are my razors. I would not recomend the W&B, Its a great razor but more for experienced. When i started i found the a bigger razor was easier to hold. Also easier to strop.

Thanks, I am going with the Imperial Razor AlanII, knowing about those starter sets was really helpful too. I'm definitely keeping that in mind for the future!

Kudos, WifeofThor. 'Also love the Imperial. Be sure your hubby knows he can get all kinds of help here. It'll be nice to hear how he does.
