Thanked: 0Mystery Razors
Hey guys and gals... my father purchased these three razors at an auction.. he knows nothing about razors and I know very little... I was wondering if you could help me out.... they are all in rough shape... the "royal" and the "corn" razor both have some pretty big chips in the blade... and the pink one has broken scales. Here is what I can see about each one...
"Royal" : the blade says Royal Razor, with the tang saying K 1 (with a line through it)19 then"keen kutter" The other side of the tang says "Simmons Howe Co" MFRS&Distributers U.S.A. and it has a pretty decent chip on the front corner of the blade.
"Corn" Ont he blade it say "lakeside" and on the tang it says Montgomery ward chicago. It has a chip on the front edge of the blade. I though this was neat due to the corn scales.
"Pink" : Broken scales but its pink with a topless mermaid or woman on it... The blade has no chips. The tang is marked "Oxford Razor Warranted germany" on one side and "Germania cutlworks Germany" on the other...
I have no idea of these are unique? different? worthless? Any info about them would be much appreciated to this noob... thanks!!

Not sure about the razors themselves, but the Keen Kutter is interesting enough..

I've had razors from each of the three marks. Keen Kutter is from Simmons Hardware of St Louis; they imported razors from England, Germany, and Sweden, and I do believe they also have some rebranded American razors. All quality stuff, and they are a pretty well known name.
The others may not be as well know, but they are quality razors too.
They'll all shave nicely once honed up.

chay2K was speaking of the notch on the nose end of the razor, if you look closely at the first photo the corn razor does have a significant chip in the middle of the blade. Bad spot for a chip that size. The other chip on near the tip can be ground off and can be made usable again.

They are unusual in as much as they are now yours, Gambler72.
IME they all look like they will clean up just fine.
I have 2 Simmonds and they are both great shavers and I have just finished an Oxford that I'll hone up this morning and shave test.
I don't think you'll loose too much of the blade on the corn razor honing the chip out (it's a bit difficult to see in the photo though)
I think you have done well - get them cleaned up and honed and enjoy the shaves - at least that's what I would do.
Hang on and enjoy the rideHang on and enjoy the ride...
