Tell me I'm doing the right thing
A gentleman I know that frequents estate sales came to me a while ago with a razor he aquired. It was a John Pritzlaff 5/8 splendid in decent shape and he offered it to me for a reasonable price so I grabbed it. I did a little research on it which amounted to very little, at leat nothing that would really make this razor special in any way. I decided it would be a good gift for my brother in law. So after I cleaned it up and did a little polishing I sent it out to one of our resident honemeisters to get it shave ready to present to him on Christmas. I've had it back for some time now and decided tonight I'd shave with it once. Now I'm in love....
I'm hoping he is actually interested in trying straight shaving cause I'd hate to let this one go if it's not going to see a future of many shaves and be appreciated. My brother in law is using a DE at this time and has expressed interest in straights in the past so I'd like to think I'm passing this beauty off to good hands. At the same time I'm wondering if maybe one of my other razors may be a better choice for a beginner. This one has a slight smile and a very aggressive spike point which may be little to much to learn with. Or am I just telling myself this cause I want to keep it...... Idk what do you guys think?

Thanked: 2591If you are careful the spike will not be a problem, the smile I do not see being any problem at all.
