Default Wolff Lane & Co. is a H. Boker!

I received this razor this weekend, and it is a Wolff, Lane & Co. which was a hardware business from the mid 1800's to 1909. They made everything they sold except fine cutlery which includes straight razors. All of the other razors I have found and seen were made by Joseph Elliot, but to my surprise when restoring it this weekend I found a small H. Boker Tree symbal stamped into the rear of the tang. This type of tree logo is the type that was used by H. Boker in between 1869 and 1900. Since there is no country of origin stamp it has to be pre-1895 because of the Teriff act. So with all that being said it would have to be dated in between 1869 and 1895. I was really excited to see it was a Boker since I have only found Joseph Elliot razors with this company trademark, and because well it's a very early boker. In faint writing on the other side of the tang it says Dein, which is German for "your". H Boker Knives were often stamped with "Dein Messer" Which meant "your knife". By comparing the grinds to other razors I am positive of its origin now and very happy.

Very cool. I have seen a few others like that as well. It's always nice to get a little insight into the history. Thanks for sharing that.

Glad someone found it interesting, it's one of the most comfortable and balanced blades.

I've got a Robeson with the same stamp on the tail. I really like the shaves off it. It's more of a half hollow. Here's a link to mine but it doesn't show the stamp on the tail: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...tml#post244548

I'm thinking maybe I should put something in the Razor Manufacture wiki section since it's so hard to find info of there background. I love this one I found, beautiful and comfortable.
