Default what in the world is this?

    Hey guys,

found this little guy the other day. I'm trying to find out who the maker is, but to no avail.
Wondering if any of ya'll may have a clue.

    thanks!

Someone here will have an idea. It sure looks like an oldie.

Early 1800s, not an absolute wedge, can not make out the maker.

There isn't a small hole on top of the tang is there? It looks remarkably like one of those single scale/tang affairs that had a number of blades. Probably just wishful thinking, though!

Wow, what a monster. That baby has some weight behind it. Based on the style I would guess early 1800's and possibly cast steel. That sure will be a beauty after restoration but it looks like most of the remaining stamp will be lost if you try to remove all of the pitting on the shank. I can just picture this razor mice and shiny in a pair of your exquisite scales!

thanks for the replies guys! it is a bit of a monster, very hefty. Couple of fun facts with it that may not appear well in the photo. It's just shy of 7/8, with a spine of a full 1/4 inch. It actually has a "reverse" shoulder. The tang is actually thinner than the blade. While it appears to be a bit hollow, it isn't. I seems to go into the wedge just a bit under the spine instead of starting from the top of the spine, so it appears to be a bit hollow with the hone wear in the pics.

I remembered seeing a stamp like that, here: RARE Old 1820 Horn Handle Shimmer Warrented Straight Razor | eBay

Doesn't quite look like it could be the same but maybe?
