Thanked: 0W. Greaves and Sons straight razor i.d.
Trying to find more info on a straight razor I bought a couple years ago. It is labeled as follows. Manufactured by W. Greaves and Sons Sheafworks. It doesnt say Wm. and sons, nor does it say sheffield. The blade is 3/4" edge to top, 3" long, blade to tab is 5 3/4". Handle is bakelite. Any info greatly appreciated. There are many variations so i.d. has been difficult. DeepCdiver

Welcome to SRP.
You have nice old frameback. The razor was made by William Greaves & Sons, Sheffield during the period 1823-1850.
You need to hone it and to use.

Thanked: 0I did not know that. Thats awesome, what type of horn were they made from? How can I narrow the date of manufacture down? Is it worth anything?

Sorry, valuations are not allowed on SRP. Your razor is a good shaver but there isn't much information that survived that we know about that would give an absolute date to your razor and most others. Actually, datubg a razor within 28 years is pretty close for a straight razor.
