Default Can't find anything on this blade. Any help?

Merry to all. I hope you guys have had fun packing away the food and cleaning up the wrapping paper shrapnel. After all was said and done I ended up today with a shiny new blade from the girlfriend. I tried looking up some info on the name stamped on the blade but I couldn't find anything.
It reads. "George Johan" next line "Sheffield". That's it. No other marks or stamps. I have pictures. I did google searches but I kept getting results for someone with the reverse name "John George" from Sheffield, England. I looked up Straight Razor Manufacturers and Dates of Operation But returned nothing. The blade is pretty nicely made with some ornaments, it's mostly clean and should sharpen right up. The scales are tight but not overly tight. Anyone have any info on this maker? Please, any info would be appreciated!

This was the seller the girlfriend got it from on Etsy. Seems the posting is still up.

Let me know if they take it down or you can't see it.

I have one and it is one of my best shavers.
I posted some photos of it, before and after, in the show and tell forum (I think).
You may like to do a search on this site and have a look.
I couldn't find much info on it either. I have been told that it was made between 1830-1850.
I hope yours shaves as well as mine does.
Interesting scales BTW - the ones on mine were shot.
Hang on and enjoy the ride.

Well that's reassuring that it's a good shaver. I've never had a Brit blade. I got lucky at the antique fairs and found a Boker with little rust that was recoverable for dirt cheap and a Felix that required a few stroppings and oil and a cleaning but that was it. So German blades are all I've had experiences with. BUT! I looked over the blade and it looks and feels very sturdy with a nice taper to the tip and it still has a visible edge that has the proper angle. This blade was never over-honed. It does have some light surface issues but a sharpening should take care of it. It does need a cleaning with alcohol pads and an oiling. I like the stripes on the scales, but they seem a little tight. I don't know if you could see it in the pictures but on the shoulder of the blade running from the tang to the tip there are decorative circles ground into it. This is my first "pretty" blade.
Anyway! Your blade looks like a great workhorse and I'm kind of amazed it's so good looking being that old. I know these razors get up on their years but...I've never seen one from pre 1900.
Do you think there is a chance my blade is as old as yours? I wouldn't have pegged it to be nearly that old, but with the lack of stamps...I don't know how that would be done. Thanks for the info though dude, it was reassuring to hear from someone else that they have one too and the blade is good.
Girlfriend was fairly confident that she got a good blade for a good price (she wouldn't tell me the exact price but she said it was under $35) and she had one of her friends that is also a straight razor shaver give his opinion. Anyway, hopefully we can find more info. I've done every search on this forum that I can think of with the names and I keep getting posts from people with anything and everything from the name "George" or "Johan". Searching for "Sheffield" returned way too many results. When I get the blade fixed up I'll make another post with it all clean. I'm definitely keeping the stripe scales!

If you have a look at the tang stamp in the photo, you will notice that it is stamped 'Sheffield' - this indicates that it was manufactured prior to 1891

Anything made after that would be stamped 'Sheffield, England'
This is about all I know on the subject - still learning.
Please share if you find out anything more.
Hang on and enjoy the ride...
