As the others have already stated you could have done better, but to be fair I double checked the "Razor Brands to Avoid" list and Fromm was not on it. This may be due to the fact that the vintage models have a better reputation though.

I'm also disappointed that whoever you contacted to hone your razor wouldn't even bother trying. There is a chance that, once honed, your razor could end up being very serviceable. You own it now, so might as well find a honemeister willing to put an edge on it so you can at least get some use out of it. Just my $0.02
