Thanked: 0New straight razor enthusiast could use any helpful information
This razor was picked up at an auction. There is a tree symbol on the tang which according to my research means it was manufactured by Boker. However it was in a Greer & Laing box and the upper portion of the tang has Greer & Laing stamped - I know that Boker made some of these and shipped them to Wheeling, WV. The most interesting part of this SR is that it presumably has Sterling Silver decoration added to the scales. All the research I have done has turned up zilch.
Is this an uncommon blade? I also have an earlier Boker with the corncob mold on the celluloid and it was much easier to find out what that particular blade was all about.
Thank you very much for your time and any help.

What you have there is a Razor made by Boker in between 1869-1895. I have one almost exactly like it by the looks of the blade, and the tree is the boker symbal they used. Mine was made for Wolff, Lane and Co. which was a hardware company in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Feels great in the hand don't it. Polish that baby up!

Probably not sterling silver decoration. Probably German Silver/ Nickel Silver. I've never seen Sterling used for decoration on a razor. Usually if Sterling is used the entire scale is Sterling unless of course you have a custom job done which your's is not.
Boker made a superior razor. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 94Ya you scored there! All old boker's are phenomenal shavers. Thankfully they can still be had at a fair price. I'm sure that will change soon.
