Torrey, my first restore
This is my first restore, couldn't get very good pics. It is a J.R. Torrey razor, the scales were crap but the blade was in nice condition other than some petina that needed polishing out. I used an electric hand plane to plane a piece of Walnut down thin enough for scales. Widdled and ground the shape by hand and using a dremel. I bought some brass plated nails and peened them for the pins.

If you plan to shave with her you will find that Torreys are some of the better if not the best US made razors. I recently honed one up for a guy and did a test shave, now I want one.

Ditto on what DoughBoy says! My every day razor is a Torrey... plain, simple, and darn reliable! Takes a bit of work to get a smooth edge on them, but they hold it forever and always, and shave like a dream.

As noted above Torrey razors are some of the best US steel razors around. I have a few but CarrieM has a stable full of them. All of them are great shaves.
