Filarmonicas are not rare at all, they're just hyped up to the sweet spot where the supply&demand maintains a very stable high price. I think a couple of years ago somebody listed 20-30 filarmonicas at the same time on ebay and they sold at around $100. When those have reappeared afterwards on ebay/classifieds one at the time I think they were selling for the more typical $300-$400.
I think most W&Bs are vastly overrated too, and many less available razors are vastly underrated. The point is that a lot of it is determined by the way the market works. I'd wager that if you see 5 consecutive weeks of really nice Gottleibs sell on ebay for $100-$300 all of a sudden a lot more of them will appear. But if you wait few months until this thread gets forgotten and list some of yours they'll fetch the same as any other made in germany razor in similar condition.
Your most likely right,But the question still remains......WHERE ARE THEY ????

    WHERE ARE THEY ????
What do people make with useless things?
There were a great number of companies and they made hundreds of thousands of razors.
And only some models of razors, not companies, are really rare.
    Something like this:

Some months, and I hope, you'll collect a set of Gottlieb Hammesfahr razors.
    Who seeks will always find.

    Sorry Gentlemen.
But unfortunately, it's not my razor.
I've posted it as an example of rare razor. About a year and a half the price of the razor was around 900 USD. At that time I couldn't find funds.

That razor with the fancy scales is tuckmar. I wonder though if the scales are original to it as they're way too fancy for what I've seen on these razors.

    tuckmar
Yes. It's Tückmar, the trademark of Tückmantel & Martin from Solingen, Ohligs bei Solingen in 1925 and 1928, Solingen-Ohligs, Am Rennpatt 23a in 1939.
And I hope, the scales with silver dog(?) are original.

Now it's Tückmantel & Martin GmbH & Co., and it's still in business:
    Ketzberger Str. 22
    DE-42653 SOLINGEN
    Nordrhein-Westfalen
    Germany.

I thought I'd check ebay and sure enough there was an old stainless one in what seems like great condition that nobody wanted to pay $140 for. That's cheaper than the dovo stainless razors that can be had any time, so it's just that when these razors appear not many people like them enough to pay what I think is a perfectly reasonable price.
