Actually, Mick is right, taking the blade off and putting on some tape a couple of layers at least until the angle is about what it would be inside the machine, and hone it that way. I've done that, and gotten some decent shaves from it, not great but not bad, all depends on how much patience you have honing the blade, I got it really sharp once and I got a good shave that time and a few more, but then I used the home that comes with it and that's kind of rough in my opinion, and ruined the job that I had.. Since then my efforts have been towards my Straits, and as most of the old-timers here will tell you practice does make perfect, and I don't want to break my arm patting myself on the back as self praise stinks, but I'm getting pretty good. Humbly yours

Thanked: 247So is that the general concensus? It's an ok tool? Maybe I won't get one after all. I did find one NOS. By that I mean it still had the wax paper inside it's chrome case, and hadn't ever been used. Sadly, so did my friend, and he bought it while I was looking at straights. I blame Grizzly for the loss, as I was busy looking for that Gottlieb Hammershfar. :P
To the point of the post: I think it's convenience. Plus, as has been mentioned, not too many people have any knowledge of SR/DE shaving. But convenience is key. Animals, by nature, are inclined to do things the easiest way possible. Sure the elk would taste good, but this little oppossum's already dead...

To regular Joe, sorry if I caused you to lose that rolls razor, especially if it was brand-new, they're worth having just closed their cool and maybe you can get a better edge then I could, having said that if I could only have one I would take the Gottlieb and Hammesshar in a heartbeat. As you may know I already have four of them, and am bidding on two more of them. I will make that seven they said if it kills me. But by the way I have come across the brand known as Kama and have to say that these are every bit as good as the Gottlieb's in my humble opinion. But if you can find that rolls, still wrapped in wrapped in wax paper I grabbed that also.
