Help identifying please
Hi,
Can anyone help me identify this razor:
The logo on the scales is of a hunter shooting what appears to be a boar. The blade has "Silver Steel. Extra Hollow Ground. Foreign" There is nothing on the tang, and nothing on the reverse. I have no idea if the box it came with originally housed this razor.
Any help in identifying this would be much appreciated.
Regards
Monkey

Thanked: 1936You are more than likely never going to find out who the original maker of that blade is. With the inlay on the scales and what appears to be original pins, I would guess you have a good razor there. I have had a few razors without the makers mark on the tang. I wouldn't concern myself with the maker necessarily, but the rust at the bevel is what I would be concerned about. I hope for your sake that it is only surface rust and not deep. Put the razor to a bevel setting stone before you spend much time on it...

The Rust is not as bad as it looks I don't think. Im confident I wont even need to touch the wet and dry to remove it, a good bit of metal polish should sort it out. The edge is sharp, it pops arm hairs like crazy. Given that I paid £7 on Ebay for it I dont think I can really go wrong with this one, in fact im confident I have scored a bargain. The box is lovely too, hopefully I can do something to with it, although I have never really tried anything like that before.
I would be nice if anyone could chip in with some advice on maker, but I know I'm being hopeful lol
Thanks for the input Scott

Sorry can´t help You out with the exact maker but I would guess it was made in Solingen for a British/US distributor. The inlay and the overall style make this the most likely to me.

Thanks Doc. I have come across a Wald razor in a box similar to this. However neither that owner or me know if the razors belonged to the boxes. German maker of Solingen would be my guess too.

I knew I had seen a handle alike somewhere, it´s not the exact same handle but very similar.

I'll have you know that by putting that link there you forced me to go to the bay and I wound up putting bids on six razors.
If I win any, you'll have to answer to my wife!
