Thanked: 0Identify this razor
I have acquired two of these blades and for the life of me been unable to identify the maker of the razor that these blades are used with. As you can see they are very similar in appearance to a Rolls Razor. I have included a picture of one of the blades and the metal tin they came in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that you have a wedge blade that is made for one of the old Star / Kampfe / etc that used a wedge blade just like that one. Hard to tell from the pic, but that is a safe bet. They were one of the very first safety razor designs.

Thanked: 0I think you nailed it. I looked up the razor you mentioned and it appears that the blades do go with that manufacturer. In your reply you stated "etc" and I was wondering if this blade style/size also fit other brands of razors. If it does would you happen to know who they are as I would like to have as many options as possible when I am searching for a handle to mount these blades in . Also do you have any idea if these were a good quality razor? It appears that the blades are very well made and I intend on sending them out to have them honed as I would really like to try and insert this razor into my normal rotation. Thanks

I believe that most of these blades are useable in almost all of the razors that took a wedge blade. They were commonly called "lather catchers" because of the design. I have a couple of Gem's and one of them has a CJ Heljestrand blade. Star and Kampfe are the only ones that come immediatly to mind besides Gem. Obviously Heljestrand since I have one of thier blades. There were a number of others though.
Not comfortable shavers though in my opinion. The blades were usually slipped into a holder that stuck into the handle so that you could strop them.
