I have a ? Wavy ? fin?
Not sure how to describe what I am seeing on my razor. It's a Wade & Butcher that i just got back from Lynn Abrams. It has never shaved better or smoother.I swear its sharper than the Wilkinson Sword inserts i use in my disposable straight. I noticed this evening that the edge of the blade (the fin?) has an ever so slight wave in one spot, and a fairly noticeable one in another spot.Did i wreck my newly honed blade with poor stropping technique? Is blade resting true after all? What should i do now? It still shaves incredibly well and i cannot feel the "waves" whatsoever.Should i attempt to hone it out? Should i try paste on my strop? Should i just relax and enjoy my good shaves I am getting? Advice, please. Thanks

You shouldn't even be looking at it, let alone touching it. And if you post about an HHT failure you might start a lynch mob. :-)

If it is working don't fix it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Nah,it didnt pass the HHT ,but it does shave very well. I really dont care about the HHT,to be honest.Thats not what i bought this razor for.I'm pretty sure i will never be able to get a decent pic of the wave, but i can try.My only real concern is if it was something that I did,to prevent it in the future.I was also curious if it stand s a possibility of chipping on me. Just your typical new guy with nOOb questions =)
Oh,when i mentioned "feeling the waves" i meant with my face, not my fingers.Sorry,i was unclear on that.

So, in all seriousness, it's probably related to the spine geometry. I'm not reaally sure what kind of wave you are talking about. Are you saying that the bevel width is inconsistent at one spot? Or are you saying that the blade edge itself isn't straight?
If you are really concerned with it I'd need a better description, a drawing, or a pic. There are several things that could be wavy, another reason beginners shouldn't hone. I'm sure glad you sent the razor to a real expert though as honing through the thousands of possible imperfections is no easy feat.

Ok,i probably used the wrong lingo.I suppose i should have called it a wavy edge, instead of a wavy fin.My mistake. The wave I am seeing takes in the whole blade edge bevel, but does not extend below the bevel toward the spine at all.The edge seems perfectly straight across the edge when viewed sideways, too. You can just see a wave or bump in the bevel/edge.I tried to get a picture but it is nearly impossible. The cutting edge is so fine you cant really capture it with a camera. You can see what looks like a shadow a little left of half way on the blade. That is it if you can make it out.My "drawing is pitiful so enjoy a good chuckle on me..Hope this helps. Thanks for the replies so far.

Have you accidentally brushed the edge against a fingernail or fouled the edge against the scales ?
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Not to my knowledge.I try to be very careful when handling it,dry it and even just lying it down.Actually,I never even close my razors. After drying them I fold them half closed and lie them on a towel. So I'm pretty confident I haven't hit the scales. But anything is possible. The lesser of the two waves had seemed to almost disappear with normal stropping .I noticed tonight that i can barely even see it now.Perhaps I will just see if it will strop out
