    Default New Hart Steel

Today I received my new Hart Steel 6/8, 1/4 ground, round point, jimped, polished finish, with cocobolo scales.

The workmanship is very nice; the one-piece cocobolo scales are beautiful. I especially like the allen head 'pin' which I can adjust to suit my preference with the included allen wrench.

As for my first shave with this new razor, all I can say is "WOW"!. I've been straight shaving for about 3 years and this was my best shave ever. Before this Hart Steel arrived, my favorites were:
    1. Dovo Best Quality 6/8
    2. Dovo Special 6/8
    3. Boker Edelweiss 5/8
    4. Boker Stainless 5/8
    5. Fredrick Reynolds Sheffield wedge
This Hart goes to the head of the list. I've never had a razor wipe away my tough 3 day old beard as effortlessly as this Hart just did.

    Highly recommended! (FWIW)

Congrats on the new razor, It's always good to hear others supporting an American made product.

I have the 7/8 square point, jimped, polished finish, with cocobolo scales. It is a huge beast!

I own that very razor and your right its an extremely fast cutter. I especially like the heft of the blade. and cocobolo scales are beautiful.

I've just recently gotten into straight razor shaving and I only have a Dovo special. However, I'm a big fan of "buying American" especially with new production. I was a little nervous about shelling out a the money for a Hart without reading some reviews. This one and others like it have made my decision. I'm thinking of a 6/8 quarter ground, round point. I haven't decided if I want the pearlex scales, but I may go with plain white.

Anyone have experience with the round point?

Totally agree, because you can't get Hart steel razors in Germany at all! Congratulations too. Enjoy the shaves and please post pictures.

I have a 7/8 round tip with a polished blade, jimps and Pearlex scales. It is a great shaver. It didn't come as shave ready as I like but after I honed it, I liked it a lot. I'm still a rookie at honing so I had to reset the bevel before I got it shave ready (I'm sure it just needed touched up if it was in the hands of someone that has more honing experience). The razor is still sharp after a few months of my original honing! All of my other razors are 6/8 so the Hart is big and noticeably heavy but I have no problem using it...
