    Default Russian Razors

What's the deal with these Russian straight razors on the bay? Are they any good or are they worthless?

I have heard only good things about them.
Back in the day Russian used to make some really good stuff.

My 1964 Russian Razor is a phenomenal shaver. Easy to hone and does it job right every time. I have heard that some of their razors can be tricky....but I totally lucked out. I wouldn't hesitate to pick another up if I could find one for a good price. YMMV

I own 4 or 5 of them and they are terrible. Don't waste your money ..... heh , heh ...... more for me.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Russia doesn't have the wide reputation for producing quality stuff, like for instance, Germany or England does but they do make quality straights.

Just be wary of things made after the fall of the Soviet Union when they were manufacturing really cheap, stuff at super low prices for export purposes. Later on they improved again.

BTW Russian does not need straight razors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=-O9n-sNA-Gw :-) Anyway I`m from Poland so we had many Russian straight razors on the market. Some of them were done from Wapi type steel and sent to Russia and some from Russian steel and sent to Poland. In general they are good razor as steel comes from Ural Mountains or Siberia where steel quality (I could say) is remarkable.
