Weishi DE
I am getting one of these babies from a buddy in Hong Kong and I was wondering if anyone here has tried shaving with one? I know they have been well-received on SMF, but I wouldn't mind some more reassurance lol.

Thanked: 9Ilija,
Why are you getting it in the first place? Anyway, sending reassurance and support vibes your way
Cheers

Ivo, b/c I decided I'd like to have a DE for ultimate variety anyways and my buddy will send it to me gratis as he can get'em dirt-cheap. Sinc he runs an e-bay biz, I wouldn't be surprised if he started selling them.

Ilija,
They have gotten decent reviews at the DE forums, and since it is a freebie, what can I say? But if you want a great shaving DE for travel or variety, pick up a Gillette Super Speed on ebay, probably for less than 10-15 bucks if you take your time. One of the best DE razors I have used.

Randy, thanks for the tip and I will if I'm not satisfied with the Weishi. In any case I'm not planning on taking my RAD there when there is so much to explore on the straight front. However, I do wanna dabble a bit. But I AM curious about Injectors

I got myself a Merkur DE a few months ago and I'm really happy I did.
I had today and yesterday off, so I was able to shave with my 7/8 TI, but I never seem to allow myself enough time for a proper shave before work in the morning, so I'm forced to do a quick job, and the DE really makes that easy.
If you've never tried one (I hadn't) you'll enjoy it. When I use mine, I don't feel as though I'm "cheating" on my straights," 'cause it's almost as old school -- especially for a twenty-three year old.

I actually have and it was enjoyable but not nearly as much as going straight. Didn't save me much time either. I think it's more a case of my RAD making me get one lol.

Yeah, the first couple of times I tried the DE, it took quite a while to finish the shave. Getting used to the technique was a bit tricky and I nicked myself a few times, which only added to my hesitance.
After about ten shaves, though, I became very comfortable with it, having learned how to apply just the right pressure (none!) and how to angle it just right on the different spots on my face and neck.

I didn't experience any nicks, but I miss the joy of using a toy that I restored and am maintaining and only having to rinse the blade once per side of the face

Thanked: 0I've got a Weishi that I've used a couple of times. Since I am coming to use a straight from a rather circuitous route (Sensor - Mach 3 - DE - Feather Straight - DE - Straight) I've picked many different DEs to try. The Weishi is a solid razor. Not very aggressive like a Merkur and not unlike a Super Speed. Great razor for a person just starting out in wet shaving. I've got one that I'm I'd be willing to sell or trade for a straight if someone is interested.
