What grit do ya'll use for sanding blades? I started out with 400 then moved to 1200. I'd like to go to something coarser. It shined up real nice, even without polishing yet,but the deeper scratches are still there. Is it safe to use any sort of power tools on these blades. I really am getting tired of hand sanding, but don't want to risk hurting this blade.

It worked on a razor I own. I accidentally broke the tip of the blade and so I had to modify its shape. I also had to grind and re-shape the toe. It shaves well. All considered, the angle of the bevel is bound to change over time, since there is much more steel on the back than on the blade. The important thing is that you hone it properly, once you are done with the grinder.

I'd avoid high speed power tools. low speed and keep it cool so you dont mess with the temper. Id also add an 800 grit round in there, as for how high to go, your looking at 8K to 12K. How low you can go, its a lot better to take your time and go slower, its always easier to take less metal off each pass than to try and put metal back on. Might be able to get some 325 grit wet/dry.
