Thanked: 0Polishing
Hi All-
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking to restore the finish to the sides of many of my older razors. I'm also looking to avoid scratching. Would something like Ajax work? Are there any products for this purpose?
many thanks,
Mark

Mark, read through the restoration forum. You'll find LOTS of usefull stuff in it. You'll learn all about sanding drums, flap-wheels, felt pads, polishing compounds (like Maas, Flitz, CLR metal clear etc etc etc.). You'll also learn about proper ways to sterilize those blades, remove the scales, re-pin them, make your own. It's a great journey to discovery. Enjoy it, do your research and then ask specific questions.

Thanked: 8Firestart is absolutely correct. Even better buy an instructional video from Urleebird who is an SRP member and restorer extrordinaire. www.billysblades.com

I'll second Gary's recommendation. Bill's CD is a great instructional tool with all you need to learn about restoring and then some.

I've found that Cape Cod Polishing Cloths do a great job polishing the blades. To do better than that you need a dremmel and rouges. Its like the honing pyramid you go from one rouge to the other to increase the shine. Unless the blade is in pretty bad shape I would first try the usual suspects like Simichrome or Maas and then the cape Cods.
