Thanked: 0New razor Loose blade?
Hi All,
I have just received my first SE (Dovo Imitation Pearl) it was not cheap, but it was not top of the range either, it is brand new and not second hand, it came shave ready, and it came from a reputable company in the UK
My question is, the blade is very loose in the scales, and the blade falls open when I pick up the razor, and the opposite is true, it will close itself, if I let it. As there is some play in the blade it catches the scales when closing, if I don't guide it in.
Is this normal? or is there too much slack in it?
Cheers

If it was that way when you got it, as a brand new product, I would contact the vendor and see if he couldn't fix this issue for you.
Most any of the vendors I know of around here would not hesitate to help you out in a situation like this.
Good luck!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 1Sounds too lose, simple enough fix with a ball peen hammer, steady hand and a surface to work with but you really should send it back if it was brandnew I think.

Get an 8 ounce ball been hammer or smaller and tap the pivot pin, you can also use a large spoon. There are videos in the library section to give you a idea. Have fun!

Get in touch with the vendor, they'll surely put it right.

Thanked: 46Tightning pins is a easy task if you know how to do it. However, as someone new to straights, I feel that you shouldn't attempt this on a brand new razor. I would send it back and let the seller do this. Only after you have done this job on some ebay razors with issues would I recommend an attempt on a new razor. If not done properly you can either break a scale or wind up with an off centered blade. JMHO Very Best, John
