The other 7/8's is a scalloped back from John Crowley that I got unhoned. It honed very easy without even having to set the bevel. Shaves just as excellent. The two 8/8's from Classic Shaving are quite hollow ground, very thin. One honed easily and is a good shaver. The other was warped, bowing from toe to heel and was a challenge to get an edge across the whole blade. Once that was accomplished it shaves well also. The 7/8's are a stiffer grind and heavier blades, and in my opinion and to my preference are the superior shavers. They are in the top level of my favorite razors. The 8/8's also are in regular use.
Thanks for sharing, Howard. I actually have a NOS 7/8 Friodur w/ custom scales myself, so I don't need any convincing

    Stay well,

My 8/8 Friodur has probably been my best shaver so far, or at least right up there. The scales Maxi put on it make it that much nicer! The tang is a bit off, so the blade doesn't centre well, but the shave is very nice. Smooth, comfortable and close.

Edit: I should add that it is one of the NOS New Grinds which I got from John.

No, I know you didn't need convinced, I was just backing up what you had posted!! I've had Internet trouble and was getting dropped a lot, so just did a quick and dirty and I guess it was a little unclear. New broadband cables today, so problem is fixed!! Thanks!

    Regards,

    Howard
