Got one Red Imp 2 days ago, and snagged his brother today..
2 days ago I bought my first real good straight. A Case Red Imp 132, from a member on this forum. Then yesterday I went nuts and bid and won a friodur on ebay that was expensive, and I don't know why I bought, so I and the seller agreed to cancel the sale. So today, I see this beautiful NOS Morris 133 Red Imp on Ebay up for auction. I contacted the seller, and he graciously made it a Buy It Now..after giving me a good price, im not sure, but I think its a good price, but won't mention due to forum rules. So I bought it. No cancelling this one, as its on its way!! I plan on seeing which of the two works for me, and gifting the other to my best bro.. Im so new to straights that I was wondering if I made the right choice with the wedge, now I don't have to worry, I got his hollow little brother. Who knows if I fall in love with em both, ill just have to buy him something else, but for now, these 2 bad boys are gonna look mighty purrdy together..can't wait to get em..

Truly awesome shaver... It seems like a lot of members are finding these gems as of late.
Congrats... you will love how well it cuts those whiskers.

Beautiful score. That's pretty good of you to give one away too. Nothing like passing on a great str8 to someone. Hopefully, he'll get much enjoyment from it.

Thanked: 46You will like these razors as they are high up the ladder of fine shavers. You will know what the phrase 'silent death of a three day growth' means. Very Best, John

Hey Chef. The heavy grind usually starts w/ 1/4 hollow and goes to the full wedge. The full wedge has some challenges to the learning process in honing, but are wonderful. 'Very different feel from the hollows, but stand quite proud in taking care of business. My favs remain the heavy grinds and the extra hollows.
The coarseness of beard you describe is tailor made for such a tool. Yes, the full & extra hollows will shave the beards of steel also, but to learn with, the heavy grinds are terrific. 'Hope you just enjoy this guy for decades.
