Default Brand New to Straight Razors. Here is what I have.

Hello all. This is my first straight razor that was given to me by my Dad as a Christmas gift. I would love to know what you think or if you could tell me anything about it. I'm just getting started using and possibly collecting razors. I already collect pocket watches and american coins...I suppose it's hard to collect just one thing!Either way, I've found that learning first hand

from people who are all ready experienced and have the knowledge is the best. Thanks for your help!

The pictures don't do it justice. No rust, very shiny and newly honed, no damage.

Hmmm.... A Puma and original coffin for a first straight razor - nice score, congrats! They are among the top vinatge brands adored by the straight razor community. Be sure to get a quality strop and get her pro honed, you'll be well on your way.

+1 to what Ryan said. Vintage Pumas are highly respected razors. I have a similar Puma, and it's a great shaver.

Puma's are one of the best factory straight razors. Very nice pick up.

As noted above, Puma razors are great shavers. From one of the pictures it looks like the bevel is starting to go into the stabilizer at the heal of the blade. This is not the end of the world but may require a bit more skill in honing. Get the razor professionally honed and you will have a top notch razor to shave with.

It will also be a great razor to give to your son when it is time for him to carry on with your tools
