Default Kind of wondering about this one.

It's pretty, faux ivory scales, few spots on the blade, but it doesn't really state country of manufacture.

The edge was rolled you can see it in the pic toward the heel. I took the cartridge it was propped with and rolled the edge back..

Back side of the tang is unmarked.

Anybody familiar with this or one like it?

It's not my favorite style of razor and I was thinking of trading it or maybe ebaying it, but if it's knock off, I'll probably peel the scales and use it to stir paint.

    Hey There,

The Solingen extra Wash, does it feel raised from the surface of the metal? I am unfamiliar with the "President Deluxe" brands. Never heard of them and none of my books mention it. I Mention the wash because I have bought a gold dollar razor just to see what it was like, and that could be polished off with relative ease. Does this feel raised or rubbery?

The razor looks fine to me, hone it and see how it is then you will know if it worth keeping or not.

Here's a close up of the gold wash.

It doesn't feel raised that I can tell.

That looks a little bit suspect to me. Does it feel raised? A proper wash should feel fairly flush since it should only be a few microns raised (it is electroplating after all)

It doesn't feel raised at all. The edges are ragged looking as Hell but I figure that is from poorly applied "resist".
Here are a couple more close ups of the gold.

I just honed it and stropped it. Steel doesn't "talk" on the stone like my other razors.

Sounds kind of dead, for lack of a better word. It took an edge, I'll give it a shave or two and see how it acts.

I hope it is a good one ... for you It's hard to tell without being able to have a scratch at that wash, and give the steel a test. good luck man I'm hoping it is a good one, could you let me know please, because I am having my doubts ... everything points me to a poor razor here. It sounds like a gold dollar I bought.

    Thanks,

If it turns out to be good, then I'll be money ahead. If not, I've got a very inexpensive paint stirrer. This thing came with a lot of 20 razors that I traded for.

I got in the bunch right and most all the rest are some good razors.

Like I said above, I don't care for that grind. Reason being is that if I have my hearing aids on when I'm shaving, the ping when the whisker cuts is annoying after after being amplified by my hearing aids.

I know, I could turn 'em off and shave in peace and quiet. LOL

    I like heavier blades myself.

I dont´t think it´s a knock off. Looks good for me. Never heard of that brand before, but that does not mean anything. I think some "Brand names" were just made up for specific orders.
The scales indicate the same. Look like ivorine handels, very common with old Solingen Razors of the early to mid 20th Century.
It should be a smooth shaver after proper honing as all Solingen Razors of it´s time.
Can´t make out any honewear probably unused, just signs of storage.
Nice find, definitely no paint stirer.
