    Default Auction Razors

There is a local auction coming up and one of the pictures they show is four straight razor boxs, beside chips or cracks in the blade is there anything else I should look for? The one box looks like it says "Chas R Costes & Sons", one box has a lot of small writing and then says "RAZOR" the other two boxs are blank. I know it is not much detail but I just wanted to know if there was anything to beware of, I am assuming there are razors in the boxs. In the same picture is a case that looks like an eye glass case

Small Chips/cracks aren't so bad if you are willing to spend the time to restore the razors, and you don't pay too much. If I was looking at razors at auction I would be looking at the blade geometry. when lay on it's side does it lay relatively flat with the blade flat against the surface. If not you will have a lot of work to hone that out. If you are buying them for yourself to enjoy then I personally would get them in any condition. I LOVE a challenge. If you have grinding equipment then even fixing bad blade geometry isn't all that bad.

If you have to ask you shouldn't be thinking of bidding on them unless you have money to gamble with.

Don't assume there are razors in the box's and if there is don't assume the box's match the razors.

You should also look at the spine of the razor for hone wear. Some wear is fine.

Does the razor close without hitting the scales with the edge?

If the edge of the razor has a frown you are looking at removing metal to get it straight.

Thanks, I will make sure the boxs are not empty. I am planning to buy them if they go cheap but i will not be bidding high
