I would guess Biglers was just a retail establishment of sorts and had the razors made for them in Germany by person or persons unknown.

Sounds like a good guess to me, I'm going to second that

You could possibly find out about Biglers. Sometimes the "hardware Store" retailers have neat history.

    I rest my case.

    It was a hardware store.

Is there any stamping on the reverse side of the tang?

    Hello,
Thank you for responding. There is nothing on the reverse side. It only reads E. Bigley Beatrice, Nebraska. It then has Germany stamped underneath. I was curious and did a little research. There was a sheriff named Bigley in Nebraska who retired and opened a hardware store in Beatrice Nebraska. It looks to be around the turn of the last century. late 1800's to early 1900's when it might have been made.

    There ya go. Question answered.

Now, who was Rice and why and when did he get beat badly enough to get a town named BEAT RICE?

I have an acquaintance named Beatrice. She gets her laundry in a bunch when I refer to her as BEAT RICE. LOL

I did a little search. There is a Toyota dealer in Lincoln, Nebraska named Bigley. Sometimes these names yield family members and old family businesses.
Depends on how hard you work on this stuff. Somebody, somewhere knows the history!
