I've recently seen some 'hand made damascus' razors for sale in the UK on a knife site, they kind of look nice at a glance but I wouldn't touch one for any amount of my hard earned cash. Just a guess but I would have thought they were mass produced on foreign soil similar some 'handmade' knives that sold far too cheap and promised the world. Some people bought the knives a couple years back and they were far from nice on inspection. Inferior steel, dodgy heat treats and tempers and poor grinds and finish on all the ones I saw.
Hopefully I'm wrong here but I'd hate to see someone get burned. The ones on the site I noticed were listed around £70 if I remember right, about $110. It would be cool if they were proper razors but I personally wouldn't take the risk. Would be nice to try before you buy sometimes!

I was sent one of these to hone and while it looked real pretty and it actually took an edge after a lot of work and creative tape placement, it could not hold the edge. It became basically dull after a 1/4 of a pass, it couldn't even shave half my face during the test shave. I think Glen said it best, "But in all actuality most of the Real Custom makers don't sell off e-bay."

Years ago they had this saying about everyone looking for a quality 5 cent cigar and look they did and never found one.
I guess you can apply that to razors too. Of course if you believe in miracles maybe some day....No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 0eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
Here's the link for those interested. Thanks for your comments. With a listing price of $22 bucks I was quite skeptical. Take care all.

That thing is cr*p on a cracker.
However, the heat treatment is excellent, or so the info tells us...
As the seller states in the ad, it is a razor/folding knife.
Great way to cover ones behind.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Oh dear. Just had a look at the link and reckon I might know who's selling these things. If it is the same person they caused quite a stir a couple years ago in the knife makers community but thats another story for another forum. Avoid avoid avoid...
