Mystery razor-shaped object
Really, I thought I was done posting "what is this?" threads. But, this was sort of dropped in my lap, and I just don't know what it is. It seems a little complex for a letter-opener... no real edge on it...weird blade profile....ideas? The only marking is "made in Germany"

It's hard to tell from the photos, but it appears to have a bevel on one side only. If that is the case, then it is most likely a microtome which is used for cutting extremely thin slices of tissue, etc, so that it can be examined in cross-section using a microscope. I hope this helps.

Sorry about the pics, this thing is awful shiny. But -- the bevel is the same both sides, just has odd shoulder running down the mid-line of the blade.

I have a Schrade that's basically the same design. Won't really take an edge that you can cut with less shave with. Every time I get a new hone I retry but nothing. I read somewhere that they were made in china but it has no 'made in mark'.
