I've got a MAD case of AD
I'm a newb and have just been hit by the MAD bug. It took about two weeks to really start kicking in, and for me to realize I had it...
I've really gotten into trying different soaps and creams. I've already acquired five. As well as a mug/scuttle acquisition disorder (I've got two). One is just a coffee mug from Target repurposed, and the other is the SRD shaving bowl. I've got the SRD bulldog mug on the way, and plan to also purchase the SRD scuttle.
And of course, I must find a proper brush! My Ebay brush's knot is just a total behemoth with a puny handle, and my Wee Scot is meant for face lathering, so I'm already on the market for a new one.
Then, just today I realized I actually have RAD. I never thought it would happen, but then I looked in my drawer, and I've already got two shave ready beauts. Another two that need restoration, and even two more on the way that may need minor restoration/honing. Which leads to my next issue. I've been looking into (for the sake of at least getting started up, and learning the craft) purchasing the Norton hone set. But what I'd really like is a set of the Naniwa Super stones. I've heard they are superb.
Here's my dilemma... If I keep purchasing creams and bowls and brushes and razors, then there's no way I'll ever get around to buying the hones, which may or may not be a good thing. But If I stop buying creams how will I ever find what works best on my skin? And if I stop buying brushes and bowls, how will I ever find the best lathering apparati? And I just can't keep myself from saving all those helpless razors that have so much history and potential. But if I don't, how will I ever learn how to sharpen them? And if I don't put a damper on ALL of it, I'll eventually go broke and end up in a box on the street with nothing but my shaving equipment, a couple guitars, and my thoughts.
I've worked myself up into an emotional frenzy. I need help. Are there any support groups I can get involved with?

Oh, I know there's no cure! I'm just wondering, if well, there's any help out there to support me in my effort to ease up on all of this (the ADs) for at least a little while. Although, I have to say, I've never had such a hobby that was so in depth and constantly fed my interest in it.

I just sent an offer out on two pretty's on Ebay. For my best interest, hopefully the seller declines both offers. When you say pocket knives, do you mean the ones for the purpose of whittling, or for showcasing in a display? I've been considering looking into carving custom coffin cases for my own razors. Not sure what tools are involved in that, but I have a feeling it'll be "another one of those AD's" if I get started on it.
