Owen's best restore and RADmore!
Well, I just sent a precious out into the far nethers to be brought back to life... I'm a guy, but is this what females feel like when they send their kids off to summer camp? Anyways... The Owen's that I sent out for restore is Solingen made for some long gone company in Plainfield, Illinois. Which I find pretty cool, since it's just a hop skip and a leap away from me!
I acquired my first W&B the restore work/scale work and soon found myself buying a custom scaled Wosty off him (which should be in the mail soon. I can... not... wait... I'm so excited I can't wait!), as well as sending him another offer on another original refurb. (I swear, I'm going to bankrupt myself if he doesn't stop with the beautiful work.) Then, after a quite a few communications, sent the Owen's off to have him put his expert touch on it. It's a 6/8 (I think) spike point (looked full hollow). A beautiful larger blade which was in fairly excellent condition. He said he'd examine the original scales and work on them to see if he could salvage them, as one has a break in it near the wedge. But if they're not salvageable, he does excellent wood work scales. Either way, I'll be more than ecstatic, I'm sure. Straight forward guy, and fair pricing, too.
I've been meaning to post pictures of my recent Acquisitions. I suppose I'll do it tomorrow in the proper "Show and Tell" forum, after I shave. Speaking of which. Work has been unbelievable this week... Heavily labor intensive 10/11+ hour days, which has hindered my shaving for over FOUR days, which, since I've started straight shaving, is absolutely unheard of. Almost unspeakable. I used to go weeks without shaving, because it was just another unpleasant task NOT to look forward to. But now I can't wait to wake up every morning to treat myself. Four days... What a blasphemous thought. I'm long overdue, silly stubble. I think it's one more Jim Black on the rocks then off to bed for me. I shall have hot lather dreams. At least until I get to use my new SRP bulldog mug! I bid you adieu, SRP, and friends.
