Anyone recognize this mark?
I picked this up in a lot of razors. I was just curious if anyone has ever seen this mark before. the razor is a wedge, is pretty thin, and really kind of looks like someone made it in their backyard.

Must be the first one George Wostenholm made, in his back yard.

Here are some more pictures. You can see how thin it is and it has just a really homemade look to it. The Wostenholm pipe was apparently in use for a very long time (1694 I've read). Has anyone seen some of the earlier examples?

It looks like mine, which you can find here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...pe-belong.html
We couldn't find a certain attribution, so I recorded it in my collection file as "Continental Pipe". Also the mark that follows the pipe resembles the one on mine, but in my razor it is below the handle so I can't see it... Would you be so kind to post a picture with the detail of that mark?
Mine also is very thin, and shorter than usual.
Also the scales are very similar... Did they have a dark brown/red waving pattern before you cleaned them?

The scales are bone-pores are visible and ivory doesn't have them. As for the interesting mark, it looks more like a pipewrench than a pipe-I have never seen one like it. With those projections, could it be some kind of key?

Thanked: 154I believe clay pipes like those popular during colonial times sometimes have that projection on the bottom.

If it was mine I would restore it and see how she shaves. Nice canvas to work with, would look great polished up.
