    Default Fingerprint Rust Spots

How does one get rid of the blackish stains of rust from fingerprints on a razor without getting rid of goldwash?

well if it is directly on the goldwash there is not anything you can do to clean off tarnish that won't remove the delicate gold. If you want, you can carefully sand around the edges with a fine point implement of some sort or use a metal polish like MAAS or Flitz in the same manner.

I would definitely suggest trying just metal polish on a qtip or similar before you do any sanding. If that doesn't work, try metal polish with a toothpick; the wood is slightly more aggressive but shouldn't leave any scratches.

As Twisted mentioned, the metal polish will take off the gold wash. You may be able to cover the gold wash with tape or something.

FWIW, the oil on your skin can be acidic or basic, and either can cause "rust." Always a good idea to clean a razor after touching it.
