Thanked: 5Thiers-Issard Sheffield Silver Steel, Black Horn versions? Help.
Hello,
I am a novice straight razor shaver. For past few months I have been shaving with Dovo razor (ebony silver steel) I have successfully honed it and with some maintenance stropping I am getting consistently good shaves with it. So now that I am fully committed on straight razor path I have decided to purchase a new razor.
Here is what I need your help with. Since My Dovo silver steel is so good I have decided to stick to silver steel. I pretty much narrowed my choice to Thiers-Issard Sheffield Silver Steel, Black Horn 5/8. However it looks like there are two very similar versions:
One with wolf & sheep seen here:

the other with fox & rooster seen here:

Does anyone know what is the difference between those two? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Thanked: 13245The vendor options
TI Vendors have a certain amount of choice when ordering their stock, just so long as the model is the same the etch is variable..
This is my understanding anyway

TI makes "brands" for particular retailers. They may make a few of the exact same razor but one may be eagle brand or wolf sheep or whatever. If the specs are the same it's the exact same razor except for the ornamentation.

To the best of my knowledge all current TI production is the exact same c135 steel. I think before they switched to it there may have been differences between the different models, but not anymore.
May be only when they have a very special 'limited' edition, but given their marketing they certainly won't omit to trumpet how the steel is so special and exclusive if it is indeed different.
