Hollow ground reccomendation
Hi All,
I'm relatively new to straight shaving.(about 3 weeks in od daily shaves)..I have 2 razors, both Red Imps, a Morris 133 hollow ground , and a Case 132 1/4 Hollow wedge.these are the only vrazors I've ever tried, aside from 1 shave on a vintage cattaraugus....I love the weight of the wedge, but the 133 hollow ground, feels a little too light and flimsy for me. I have a really coarse beard for one, and also I like the feel of a little added weight in my hand...so my question is, Are there any Hollow Ground razors you can reccomend, that use a bit more steel? Maybe a heavier spine, that would still be hollow ground, but with some weight to them..?
Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I think I'm going to get rid of the hollow Red Imp, even though I love the looks of it. Its beautiful, I. Got it NOS..too bad, I don't like the shave..
Thanks
Basil

First thing that comes to mind to me is to go up a size. Try a 6/8 or larger.

Hollow grounds can be found in many variations from full to quarter hollow. It sounds like you'd be happier with a quarter hollow.

I would say put your Imp away somewhere safe and wait to see what you like down the road. Chances are the reason you don't like it has more to do with your shave technique than the razor or your beard.

Oh and if that doesn't change your mind then let me know and I'll take the Imp off your hands.

People with Hart razors report that they are quite heavy, and very, very sharp. They're expensive, but not worse than a high-end TI. I think they're about 1/4-hollow. Try here:

You can find the reviews scattered on this site.
