What blade is in these Beau Brummel scales?
I was 90% sure this wasnt a BB when I bid on it, but I knew it was big and in decent shape. Now the question is, what is this razor?
The blade is 8/8 at the toe down to 7/8 at the heel with a sway back and a full hollow grind.
The only markings on the blade are the endings of two lines stamped on the tang, all thats left is "...one" and the next line only has "...ties"
looks like someone tried a light restore at some point along with a rescale, the wedge pin has washers, but the pivot pin doesn't.
Any ideas guys?

Thanked: 1936No clue, but a good looking blade none the less. All I can make out is that it more than likely ended in "Son's" from the pic...what can you make out with it in different lights?

Thanked: 13246Looks like Sheffield lines to my eyes and "ties" could very well be "Majesties" which would be common and would fit with English steel
I am really surprised the heel isn't hanging out the bottom of the scales

I was thinking it was a sheffield with that spine profile. the blade is VERY close to the bottom of the scales.
I don't like the idea of a franken-razor, I may make a set of scales for this blade sometime this week. maybe someone else could use these scales since they're in very good condition.

Thanked: 1936I didn't pick up on the majesties part, but could be a Joseph Rodgers & Sons, Cutlers to their Majesties. I honed a Rodgers blade that had a similar spine on it just a few months ago, good steel. Does look English & the shoe "could" fit. Should be a good shaver, nice find...
I too am surprised the heel is not showing, which could be VERY dangerous. Big blade for small scales.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Well without a better picture... i played in photoshop with what we had... and think it is a joseph rogers & sons... there are some real faint letters that look like "dge" right about where they should be ... different lighting might improve the certainty.
Be just and fear not.

I am going with Rogers and sons. A really nice Blade!

Looked more closely at the stamp on the tang and you can see it says "sons" you can barely see it but theres definitely a faint S at the beginning.
and about it looking like it would be too long for the scales...
..barely fits. I hope it wasnt given that taper from 8/8 to 7/8 to make it fit in these scales, that would be quite sad.

I'm glad someone here got that one - I really wanted it but fiscal constraints made it impossible for me to bid on it.
It is absolutely beautiful.
Enjoy it in good health.Hang on and enjoy the ride...

I almost didn't get it either, nearly sniped.
I plan on this being my first razor I will do a FULL restore with custom scales.
