    That depends on the place and the day. Complete removal of crotchal hair has been done pretty much forever. The Romans used tweezers, the Persians used a depilatory goop called orpiment which was made partly from arsenic. And in fact, the Brazillian is pretty mellow compared to some traditions. Total hair removal has been considered awesome and hygienic at various times and places.

    And yes, I would make scales for that, hone it and shave away.

    Maybe there were, after all. Lice were a big problem back in the day. It's why Egyptian royalty cut their hair very short and then wore wigs....
