Thanked: 9Custom scales arrived
Robert Williams (PappaBull) worked on some razors for me. Here they are, too bad I cannot shave for some time as stubborn I scraped my neck with a bad hone job.
The Joseph Rodgers 6/8 is pretty interesting, heavy / fat wedge and the pink ivory looks great. I also love the tinge on the giraffe bone on the Friodur, and the 8/8 Barber's Use W&B has the fattest scales I have ever seen. Not sure what the wedge is, white spotted bone maybe, but it adds a very nice touch. This thing is huge. Now I can understand why some people here think a razor can be 'he'
You should also note the custom pins (can adjust tension / take apart)
Thanks, Robert!
Cheers

Ivo RE: the W&B, She (fat women need love too) will only mistreat you but here's a suggestion, shave that razor burn (against the grain) with enough pressure to make you scream (she likes it), if you can't appreciate this experience go to your computer and PM me for shipping/payment info.
I really need to find another one of these.

ivo,
im not certain but the wedge with the spotted bone. i would guess its Girraffe bone. Robert posted pics of some scales he made a bit ago using some Girraffe bone and this looks very similar to that. i think they look quite nice for bone scales. im not a fan of bone scales but if i was to have some, i'd like these Girraffe ones.
can't believe how much the pink ivory darkens up when its stabilized/coated. i had a few sets of scale blanks of pink ivory recently and its extremely light coloured pink. what is nice is that you can see more of the grain of the wood in the pink ivory now then you can before its finished.

the Friodur scales are giraffe bone, indeed. However, I was talking about the bottom pin wedge between the scales of the W&B - you cannot see it in my pics. It is quite possible that it is giraffe bone too

Thanked: 2Well you've got quite the outfit there. They all look great, and I'd be proud of all of them.
Pink ivory can run from light pink to almost red and a finish will darken most woods. Pink ivory is quite an expensive wood, which wouldn't be too bad, but the stuff burns so damn easy, you end up sanding most of it to dust!
Beautiful work!

Thanked: 324Yes, Pink ivory is tough to work with and expensive as hell but it's beautiful stuff if you treat it right.

Thanked: 346The middle one looks like the giraffe on my big W&B, it's very pretty stuff. Big blades need big scales :-)

Robert, what did you use to pin the scales? I'm always on the lookout for new technical solutions lol.
