Thanked: 20Modern TIs
Gentlemen-
Which of the currently produced Thiers Issard razors are made with that molten lead process I've read about? Are the Le Grelots the only blades with reground blanks produced by another company?
Also, does anyone know the TI model equivilent or the origin of the blade used on the lowest-end TI sold by the Art of Shaving, the one that retails for $135?
Thanks a lot - Gags

The lead process is used in the quenching process from what I understand and they use that on all their razors. Hard to tell about the blanks. TI has sold a number of series of razors that came from blanks made by them. The original Le Grelots were old blanks supposedly from Le Grelot however at this point I don't know where the Le Grelot blanks are from.

Sorry, I cannot help you on the molton lead question.
There are now two types of Le Grelot available. The first is the historic (P Hospital) blanks. The second is the Le Grelot type which I believe is the C135 steel.
I think that the Le Grelot is the only one that is left that is produced from someone else's blank.
Martin might still have a TI La Rose that might be someone else's blank but no idea on who might have originally made it.
