    Default Newbie need razor info...

I recently started shaving with a safety razor and have descided that I need to do a straight edge as well. My mother lives in another state has two razors she said are in wonderful shape along with a wooden bowl, soap and brush. Im happy... She is sending this stuff on monday to me. Anyway the two razors she said are marked as such...

    1. Carbo magnetic torrey Worchester mass. Usa griffin xxx

    2. Fedrick Reynolds Sheffield

Of course condition will be important... but are either deceint razors?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

also where is a good place to have them made shave ready?... I don't have a strop nor hones...

Hypothetically speaking, since you don't know the condition they can be great razors. You'll soon see.

It's hard to say... it depends on the quality of your skin and hair... the only way is to try different brands to check the various grinds and steel. For example, I can't shave with a steel that is too soft, my hair are stronger. A harder steel shaves better, but if it is too hard it tends to scratch my skin.
Use them both and try to understand the differences, that can teach you much. Usually who decides to shave with STR8S purchases a number of them to understand his needs. Many people buy and restore old vintage razors to try them, and when they are not satisfied they sell them. So the razors' conditions improve, and they can be found by somebody they are suited for.
    Hopefully...
    Enjoy!
