Help Please on a Nyitray Hazal Beretva
Good Morning Everyone,
I found a razor this weekend in an unlikely place and I can find little to nothing about it. I am sorry I have no pic to post yet.
The name on the tang is "NYITRAY HAZAL BERETVA". The other side if the tang is a stamp of a thermometer.
There is etching on the blade of a Lion laying down among grass / trees and the spine of the razor is very nicely worked with scollops and jimps. A barber's notch and a spike point and the blade is about a 4/8 and I think about 1/4 hollow.
I will post a pic if I can, but thanks for any info that you might could provide.
Will N.

Can't give you much info on that particular razor but Beretva is Hungarian for razor if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully someone that speaks Hungarian can chime in.

Thank you, Sir. I will patiently wait for one of our Hungarian members or someone that knows this particular piece.

Google translate says that HAZAL means peddle in Hungarian. Nothing else translated literally (from Hungarian) and autodetect did not work.

Thanked: 298Yes, Max is right: BERETVA=RAZOR
...I think is HAZAL not HAZAL but HAZAI. Hazai = domestic. (or home-made in Hungary)
NYITRAY HAZAI BOROTVA = DOMESTIC RAZOR BY NYITRAY
The "Nyitray" can the maker's name, then I try to look up.
Cheers,
Béla
